The 2025 P.B.F.A book fairs have begun, and there’s a clue in the map: I’m away at York until the 13th at a huge fair at the racecourse. This lovely pictorial map is by Estra Clarke, by the way, and it was published in 1947.
I know I’ve said this before but I really do need stock to replenish my shelves and am looking particularly for good collections of books, maps and ephemera. If you have resolved to ‘do something about all those old books’ then please give me a call and get things started.
I can help in two ways. Ideally, I can buy the books and take them away. However I often find that people are very grateful for a professional appraisal, even if it turns out the books are not really worth anything. At least you know for sure; it puts your mind at rest and all I need to see are a few photographs of the shelves.
