Bar Broad; or, A Lush For Lust.

Now I don’t know what you’re expecting here but as I’ve got your attention there are two points I’d like to look at. Firstly this is a PBO – a paperback original, the first edition being this paperback rather than a hardback. Playtime, the publishers, issued dozens with fantastic titles like these and they actually do describe what happens in the bedroom (or the bar, the office, the nearest field…) rather than politely withdraw. And secondly that notch at the top by the logo isn’t anything to do with bed posts. It means the book was remaindered and then sold to a discount retailer at a reduced cost – the notch showing that the stock was un-returnable. Top Collectors have views about notches and prefer un-cut copies. So you see, all perfectly sensible stuff and tomorrow we’ll continue in that vein and look at another book beginning with ‘B’…

Playtime, 1964. First edition.
