The Ultimate Bibliomystery; or, Death Of A Bookseller.

The Ultimate Bibliomystery

Bernard J. Farmer wrote ‘The Gentle Art of Book Collecting’ but in this take on the subject he reveals the sordid truth of the matter. Farmer was a policeman, a collector and later an author. I first saw this marked ‘Not For Sale’ behind the counter of a second hand bookshop in Hay on Wye. A few years later I found a wrecked and jacket less copy at a boot fair and a few days after that paid £50 for this copy. It remains the greatest of all bibliomysteries – a fabulous thriller set in fifties London with book-lore, bookshops and mad book collectors on every page. I’ll be featuring plenty more bibliomysteries here in due course. But Valentine’s day is fast approaching…
