A Spooky Bibliomystery: Post Mortem by Guy Cullingford

A murdered author writes his own bibliomystery

‘Post Mortem’ by Guy Cullingford is an excellent bibliomystery. Un-likeable author Gilbert Worth is shot dead at point blank range and his death looks very much like suicide. Only his troubled spirit knows  he was murdered – but whodunnit? The assailant crept up behind him and the next thing he knows he’s hanging around – literally, in mid-air – watching the police get it all wrong. How can he nudge them in to looking for the right clues in the right places? It’s a very clever twist on the traditional crime yarn and only requires a tad more suspension of disbelief. The dust wrapper illustration by Sax is particularly striking. There are collectors for jacket artists and I’ll be featuring some other well known names soon.

I’ll be offering this book for sale, along with a great many other tasty bibliomysteries, at The Children’s, Illustrated and Modern First Editons Fair at Kensington Olympia Hotel on Saturday 24th February.

Hammond & Hammond, 1953. First edition. 1952 and 1953 were bumper years for bibs and I'd love to know why...
